[Update: don’t miss the NieR-centric piano concert celebrating the album’s release on USTREAM at 5:30 PM on March 20th, Japan time!]
Yes, we’re still talking about the soundtrack from NieR. After the hugely successful NieR Tribute Album -echo- released last year, Square Enix is following up with another arrangement album, this time dedicated to solo piano arrangements covering eleven key themes from the game. If you’re wondering if the absence of vocalist Emi Evans takes way from the magic of this music, worry not; these themes are as dreamy as ever.
In addition to some of the original composers contributing arrangements and performances, former Square Enix composer Kumi Tanioka (Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series) also performs three of the pieces. Square Enix has created an official website dedicated to the album where you can hear three samples, and while the album’s isn’t out until Wednesday, March 21, you can pre-order it via import site CD Japan for 2,800 Yen (about $32 USD) and read a review over on OSV.
After the Piano Opera Final Fantasy I / II / III album released last month, are you in the mood for more solo piano works from Square Enix? Are there any other ways you’d like to hear the NieR soundtrack arranged in the future?
