Through the magic of x-ray and nerdity we know how much RAM the Nintendo 3DS is working with. Nintendo could have just told us, but instead Chipworks had to pull open the 3DS and get their x-ray machine out. Through part numbers and math and other crap I don’t understand we now know that the Nintendo 3DS has a somewhat healthy 128mb of RAM inside.
The number may not sound huge, but know that it’s supposed to be very fast. The folks at iFixit say that this “Fast Cycle RAM” has a data rate of 3.2 GB/sec, which is approximately double the capability of DDR2 RAM. That’s good, right?
I wonder how much of that RAM is working RAM. How much of it is OS?
