The next Fire Emblem isn’t that far off
Nintendo is known for kicking off their Nintendo Directs with style, and announcing Fire Emblem Engage is no exception.
Shown off with a brand new very detailed accompanying trailer, we get a sense of the dragon-based conflict within this game world, as well as some gameplay to boot. Here’s the full description of what to expect:
“In a war against the Fell Dragon, four kingdoms worked together with heroes from other worlds to seal away this great evil. One thousand years later, this seal has weakened and the Fell Dragon is about to reawaken. As a Divine Dragon, use rich strategies and robust customization to meet your destiny – to collect Emblem Rings scattered across the world and bring peace back to the Continent of Elyos. Summon and fight alongside legendary heroes from past Fire Emblem games, like Marth and Celica, and add their power to yours in this new story. The turn-based, tactical battle system the Fire Emblem series is known for returns with a fresh cast of characters you can customize and Engage with to carefully craft your strategy.”
Ha! That bit about summoning prior heroes is such a great way to pack in some nostalgia, and sell the game in a variety of ways with all sorts of key art from classic characters. It’s out on January 20, 2023. As a reminder, it’s been three years since Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
Nintendo also announced a Fire Emblem Engage Divine Edition
The special edition for the game will include the actual game itself, a steelbook, art cards, and an art book.
