Nintendo Switch firmware 4.0 finally allows video capture

When Nintendo unveiled the Switch, one of the promised features for the system was the ability to capture video. Nintendo never gave a specific date for that update, but it looks like it has suddenly appeared out of nowhere! With the Switch’s 4.0 firmware update, you can now record 30 second clips (in select games) to your system which can then be edited and shared online without having to use external software!

Also included in the update are some more profile pictures based on Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey as well as the ability to transfer user profiles and save data to other Switch consoles. That last one is the best, since Nintendo apparently thought we were living in some bizarre alternate dimension where backing up saves wasn’t a thing.

Oh, I suppose you can now pre-purchase games on the eShop, but I don’t even see how that is an update; more like just convenience for people who somehow forget about an upcoming game. Also, the eShop doesn’t run out of stuff, so why would you even need to pre-order on there? Whatever, its a decent enough gesture.
