Diddy Kong Racing 2 anyone?
A new trademark filing for Diddy Kong in Europe was discovered by those super sleuths on NeoGAF that could point to a pending announcement at E3 next week. There have been rumors making the rounds about Diddy Kong Racing 2 being developed by Monster Games, who previously made Excitebots for the Wii, ported Donkey Kong Country Returns to the 3DS, and assisted Retro with Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. The studio is no stranger to racing or Donkey Kong games, so it makes sense. Another NeoGAF based rumor states that Retro is developing the Wii U version of Diddy Kong Racing 2 while Monster Games is porting it to 3DS.
That being said, the trademark covers a large amount of potential products such as: Footwear, garters, toys for domestic pets, toys with built-in IC chips, and a conjuring apparatus, just to name a few. For all we know we could be using a Diddy Kong Wii-ja board in the near future to summon the spirit of Cranky Kong.
