The universe is always expanding
Hello Games has both announced and dropped a new update for No Man’s Sky: update 4.2, Interceptor. Or maybe. The patch notes are live, but it’s not on Steam yet.
This is the jillionth update on the path of redemption for No Man’s Sky, which famously launched in a horrible state. The Interceptor update brings with it a continuation to the game’s story while introducing corrupted planets. Hello Games also outlines a great deal of quality-of-life tweaks in its emoji-filled Tweet. There’s also a new class of ship! I’m going to show the Tweet here, but if you don’t like emojis, here’s a link to the patch notes.

I feel like it’s tiresome to keep bringing up that No Man’s Sky kind of sucked at launch. It’s so high profile, and 2016 was about a million years ago. It’s been a decent game for a lot longer than it was a disappointing one. However, I do wish more games got this treatment. What if they fixed Spore? What if Spore eventually became the game it was promised to be? That would have been pretty cool.
There’s also a new trailer for the Interceptor update, and I am so lapsed on this game that I have absolutely no context for what’s going on. But, with that said, I think I might reinstall it and see if I get sucked in this time.
No Man’s Sky: Interceptor is available now for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
