Limited-edition bundle with PlayStation Plus
Ten-year life cycle? Why, we’re only just getting started. Despite the fact that new consoles from Sony and Microsoft are on the way, if you’ve got the money now for one of the current-gen systems missing from your collection, it’s not a bad time to dive in. Sony has announced a new PlayStation 3 bundle which offers serious bang for your buck and looks nice, too.
Priced at $299.99, the Classic White PS3 Instant Game Collection Bundle will include 500GB of storage and a one-year subscription to PlayStation Plus when it arrives on January 27, 2013. It took a bit to get there, but the service now seems to be entirely worth belonging to — assuming you have the free time to play the featured games. To give you an idea of the scope here, Sony says that 50+ free and 270 discounted PS3 titles were offered through Plus last year.
As an owner of the super slim console myself, I’ll add that while the grooves on the top aren’t the greatest and the revised disc loading is what it is, you’ll eventually care about these aspects less, and the reduced size of the system more. Now, if only I could have gotten ones of these white PS3s instead.
