Graphics card and processor maker Nvidia was named the Company of the Year by Forbes magazine.
Forbes lets the gamers and geeks worry about things like SLI and GPUs; they’re more concerned with how much money Nvidia is making. They now own 62% of the graphics market, and that’s up from 57% a year ago. In fact, since Nvidia went public in 1999, shares have risen 21-fold, and are now quickly moving into Apple range. They’re expected to pull in $4 billion in gross sales this year.
We know that they make PC graphics cards as well as the GPUs for the PlayStation 3, but to stay on top they’re looking beyond games. The Forbes article mentions potential uses like deep-sea seismic analysis and modeling portfolio risk.
