I’m not going to lie. I initially grabbed this news story because it mentioned the Parsons New School of Design. For those of you who don’t know (which I assume is at least 95% of you), Parsons is where they shoot best show ever, Project Runway. Yeah, Project Runway. I’m not ashamed. Let me see you design and construct a perfectly tailored dress and pea coat combo in less than nine hours. That’s what I thought.
Anyway, once I found out what this story was really about, I was very intrigued! This weekend, Sony is teaming up with Parsons to host a 24-hour LittleBigPlanet design competition. Members of various design disciplines (illustration, photography, fashion, etc.) are going to be split into teams to create an entire LittleBigPlanet level over a 24-hour period. Once finished, their levels will be judged by a Media Molecule panel and the winning creation will be featured in the actual game. Pretty cool!
Lawrence, one of the competitors, is blogging about his experience here and taking suggestions for what his team should include. Honestly, I can’t decide if I am more jealous of his artistic talent or the fact that he gets to fully immerse himself in LittleBigPlanet this early before its release.
What do you think? Is this a cool promotion for an even cooler game? Are you excited about the release of LittleBigPlanet? Who do you want to win Project Runway more: Leanne or Korto?
