Mudokons make their move to desktop
Oddworld Inhabitants announced that the Enhanced Edition of Oddworld: Soulstorm will come creeping on to Steam in the near future, following on from its 2021 release on PlayStation, Xbox, and Epic Games Store. While a specific release date was not announced, the EGS one-year exclusivity deal would expire today.
The long-awaited sequel to the Oddworld classics of the ’90s and early ’00s, Oddworld: Soulstorm sees the heroic revolutionary Abe embark on another exodus to free his people, The Mudokans, from the oppressive tyranny of the greedy, capitalistic Glukkons. Oddworld: Soulstorm, like its predecessors, blends stealth action with puzzle-solving and standard platforming gameplay, as Abe guides his friends to safety while meticulously sabotaging the Glukkons’ oppressive machine.
The “Enhanced Edition” of Oddworld: Soulstorm featured an overhauled engine, optimized controls, tweaked A.I., and other minor tweaks, all of which aimed to clear out some of the issues that reviewers and players found with the original release. In addition, it also contains two previously platform-exclusive stages: The Xbox-centric “Vykkers Lab” and PlayStation’s “Toby’s Escape.” All of this content is expected to be available at launch for the Steam release.
Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition will launch on PC via Steam soon. It is available right now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC (via Epic Games Store).
