Monster Hunter is never going away. It’s only going to get bigger and bigger. I bet one day there will be a Monster Hunter console. It will only Monster Hunter games. It’ll be shaped like a Felyne’s face and you’ll put the game disc inside the mouth hole.
That imaginary future sounds silly, but we’re well on our way with these one-week sales results for the launch of Monster Hunter Freedom 3 for the PSP in Japan. Capcom says that the game managed to break all records, selling 2 million copies of the game in one week! It’s been a couple of years since the last one, so it sounds like gamers were good and ready to get the newest version when it released on December 1.
I’m imagining a nation of zombified gamers bumping to each other in the streets with their faces all in PSPs. It has been that way for awhile; the franchise has moved 15 million copies since its launch in 2004.
