While most players have had their attention on Varlamore and its recent release, Jagex has been hard at work making sure that other areas of the game still see some love. The past few years have seen a good amount of work go into the Wilderness, adding several new bosses, money makers, and PvP hot spots. This newest update is no different, looking to breathe new life into two of the oldest, and most underutilized, sections of the wilderness.
This guide will go over the major changes to the Chaos Temple Area, and explain the new ways for players to make some risky money at the Wilderness Agility Course. This way, whether you’re a PvP Pure looking for a new spot to fight or just someone to make some money while on the Agility grind, you can be sure that you’re prepared for whatever comes next.
Changes to the Wilderness Chaos Temple
Chaos Druids vs. Undead Pirates
The largest change is the introduction of a new enemy type to the Chaos Temple in levels 9 to 14 wilderness. A ship containing undead pirates has run aground, creating a larger area of battle. These undead pirates have low max health and a fast respawn time, while also residing in a multi-combat area, which means players can kill a good number of them per hour, especially for those willing to bring their Dwarf Multicannon into the wilderness.
New Drops from the Undead Pirates
The undead pirates have a loot table with a decent amount of runes, alchables, blighted supplies, and even Larran’s keys, making them a good source of gp/hr. They also bring two new unique drops into the game: The Teleport Anchoring Scroll, and Adamant Seeds.
The Teleport Anchoring Scroll is a one-time use item that makes players impervious to the Chaos Druids’ teleporting attack, as well as the similar attack used by the Abyssal Demons. This will make killing either enemy a much less headache-inducing experience.
The Adamant Seeds are similar to the Mithril Seed item, with one major change. Mithril Seeds are commonly used in PvP, as players can use them to move one tile to the West when frozen, allowing for possible escapes. Adamant seeds do the same, but the player moves to the East.
More Opportunities for PvP
The last notable change to the area will be of interest to PvPers, especially pure accounts who struggle to fight higher-level accounts deep in the Wilderness. In addition to the teleportation attack, the Chaos Druids now also have access to a Teleblock. This means that players trying to make money here won’t be able to teleport at the first sign of danger, and PvPers will have a chance to start a fight on their terms.
Wilderness Agility Course
The Wilderness Agility Course has seen some pretty massive changes, making training here both more effective and profitable. The addition of a pay-to-use Agility Dispenser, Wilderness Agility Tickets, and a change to singles plus combat should drive much more traffic to the course.
Agility Dispenser
The Agility Dispenser, located at the beginning of the course, gives players access to a new money-making method. By paying 150,000 gp, players activate the Agility Dispenser, rewarding them with noted loot at the end of every lap, as well as refreshing their run energy. The loot gained averages at 10,000 gp/lap, but increases as players complete consecutive laps without leaving the course, as shown below:
Laps Completed | Gp Per Lap |
1-15 | 10,000 gp/lap |
16-30 | 20,000 gp/lap |
31-60 | 30,000 gp/lap |
61+ | 40,000 gp/lap |
Because the Agility Dispenser restores run energy, players are incentivized to bring defensive gear rather than run energy gear, making it possible to escape run-ins with PvPers. Players will have to repay the 150,000 gp fee every time they die, so there is some risk, even if bringing no gear into the course.
Wilderness Agility Tickets
Wilderness Agility tickets are now granted to players who complete a lap of the Wilderness Agility Course. These can be exchanged at the Agility Dispenser for an extra 200 experience per token. Turning in larger amounts of tokens grants additional experience buffs, as shown below:
Wilderness Agility Tickets Used | Exp. Granted |
1-10 | 200 Exp per Ticket |
11-50 | 210 Exp per Ticket |
50-100 | 220 Exp per Ticket |
101+ | 230 Exp per Ticket |
These Wilderness Agility tickets are lost and converted to coins when a player is killed, meaning those looking to train here will have to risk losing their tickets to PvPers when striving to reach the maximum experience bonus.
Singles Plus Combat Area
The area is also now filled with more aggressive skeletons, as well as being changed to a singles plus area, similar to the Revenant Caves. Players won’t be able to log out at the first sign of a PvPer, as the more numerous skeletons will keep them in combat throughout their run. Singles plus combat areas also allow players to attack other players even when they are in combat with monsters, meaning that players can’t try to get in combat with the skeletons to escape the PvPer. Overall, this should mean that PvPers will have a lot better time targeting these players, and the rewards should be decent for killing them.
These areas were two of the oldest, and most outdated sections in the game, and this revamp should do wonders for them. Whether you’d rather be in a pirate war or chasing down Agility trainers for their stuff, the Wilderness should be a more lively place for everyone.
