Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox versions incoming
The Orcs Must Die series is my trap-laying spirit animal, but when it comes to timed exclusives on Stadia, I’ve got to say “no thanks!” (Okay, I’m not always that polite.) With that said, I’m happy to see that Orcs Must Die 3 will be playable on Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S — it just got a July 23, 2021 release date during E3.
Chris reviewed this latest solo/co-op defensive action game when it released last year on Stadia, bless his heart. To make the wait bearable, I had to look away.
Aside from a new story campaign that picks up decades after the last game, Orcs Must Die 3 also has War Scenarios — larger-scale maps with larger-scale defensive options like catapults — as well as weekly challenges, a tricky Scramble mode with modifiers, and an Endless mode. The guiding philosophy is “more of everything.” The format still works.
You’re probably in or you’re out based on your history with Orcs Must Die. I am most certainly in, especially at the pretty reasonable $30 price tag right out of the gate.
