$4.99 for Don’t Starve owners, or they can just wait for the free final launch
I love that name, Don’t Starve Together. Wonder if Steven likes it, too. This standalone expansion introduces multiplayer to Klei’s unsettling world and, once released on Steam, it will be free for owners of the original game. But, in the mean time, there’s a way to play early.
On December 15, Klei will launch the Don’t Starve Together Frontier Pack on Steam Early Access. It comes with one copy of Don’t Starve, and two copies of Don’t Starve Together (with immediate beta access). The Frontier Pack is $4.99 if you own the base game, or $19.99 if you don’t.
Klei says that “…there are a lot of people who really want into the beta, and even while giving out a hundreds of keys every day, it became clear to us that we needed a release valve for the demand. Specifically, people were starting to buy keys in back channels, with varying success. That’s why we’re now providing the Frontier Pack: a clear, official channel for access.”
Don’t Starve is hard enough alone, but with multiple mouths to feed? This won’t end well for me.
