Last year, the Destructoid team felt like PAX offered everything we could possibly want when it came to having fun at an event from screenings of classic (if slightly painful) gaming films to the opportunity to hurl threats at a live Uwe Boll. The thought never crossed my mind that I wished more indie exhibitors were there, likely because I was too busy having fun to even think about it.
Gabe and Tycho did notice however, and as their event is growing at a ferocious pace it likely seemed the logical next step to widen the playing field. Enter PAX 10, a showcase for indie gamers to show off their works at PAX 2008. The exhibition will be shown in cooperation with the DigiPen Institute of Technology.
Want to submit your own game? You still have time, as the deadline for entries is not until May 7th, 2008. A panel of 50 industry experts (including Gabe and Tycho themselves) will judge the entries and pick the ten best to show in the PAX exhibition hall. Those winners are eligible to win the Audience Choice award as well, as they will be voted on by PAX attendees after making it to the show floor.
I’m thrilled to see this added on and hoping to meet some great indie developers come August. Cheers to Gabe and Tycho – somehow you guys just keep getting better.
