As some of you may have seen, I am your new Community Playdate Manager. My name is Mike Martin, but you probably know me better as PhilKenSebben. I will be taking over for the amazing Bill Platt/ChillyBilly/Cold William, who has gone on to enjoy AARP benefits, family and games. Enjoy your retirement buddy! In all seriousness, Bill is amazing and I thank him so much for all his hard work around here. I only hope to be a fraction as good as he was. See, if I set expectations low… Oh wait. Supposed to keep that part inside. Second day on the job and I’m already messing up. Dammit Mike. Moving on…
As I said, this only my second day on the job. I don’t have any crazy news to deliver, no wacky ideas to unveil, but trust that I am working on things. Expect to see some blogs in the next week where I will outline a couple things and ask for your input on them. I’m very keen on having us work together. I don’t want to just ask you all to do something, or expect you to jump on a new bandwagon/idea. I want your input. I want to make these decisions together. That’s what this all about right? Community? Yes. Yes it is. It’s my favorite part of this place and why I wanted this gig. I want to help make FNF, Streamtoid and TF2uesdays more united and help them grow to even bigger levels of community interaction.
Intro out the way, mission statement out the way, let’s get down to games. What games would you folks like to see hosted? What games would you like to see streamed? What systems do you prefer? What kind of tournaments would you like to see? Should we start a retro night? Post your ideas below please. Let me feed off them and derive my nourishment from your juicy brain matter. New to FNF? Read this! Each week, a bunch of us Dtoiders get together to play videogames online! It’s a 100% community-run event, so feel free to join in or even host something yourself!
The planning for FNF starts in the forums, where community members sign up to host matches and post their pertinent details (game, time, Gamertag, etc.). Then, every Friday, reminder posts go up in the community blogs thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers, and I recap it all here on the front page to give it a bit more exposure.
To join in, simply send a friend request to the match host! If you’d rather host something yourself, sound off in the comments section below!
