No balls of steel required
Outside the dedicated and nebulously legal emulation scene, PC hasn’t received much virtual pinball love lately despite being its birthplace. Zen Studios is changing this by bringing Pinball FX 2 to Steam on May 10. The title previously arrived on the Windows Store in October, but it should hit a larger PC audience on Steam which is admittedly devoid of quality pinball titles.
For those new to Pinball FX 2, it’s a free-to-download platform that offers a number of table packs based on Star Wars and Marvel, along with some original creations. The six packs available at launch will go for $9.99 each. Turns out pinball is still expensive.
This is perfect timing for someone who has recently become obsessed with pinball via my Nexus 7 tablet. Here’s hoping Pinball Arcade follows suit in time, as I love the sound and look of the original tables. Beggers can’t be choosers though, so I’ll savor playing Pinball FX 2 in HD with a controller and Steam achievements.
