PlayStation has announced its Twitter / X integration for photo and video sharing on PS4 and PS5 ends on November 13.
PlayStation Twitter support ends soon
“As of November 13, 2023, integration with X (formerly known as Twitter) will no longer function on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles,” says PlayStation on its official website. “This includes the ability to view any content published on X on PS5/PS4, and the ability to post and view content, trophies, and other gameplay-related activities on X directly from PS5/PS4 (or link an X account to do so).”
This means it won’t be quite so easy to post photos of Spider-Man swinging across New York or Kratos taking out a giant foe in God of War Ragnarok. You can still do post shots on the platform, but only through the PlayStation App or by offloading and uploading photos manually.
PlayStation has not provided further reason for this decision. Changes have been rolling out for the API, and Sony isn’t the only one that’s shut down its direct integration—Microsoft turned off its Xbox-to-Twitter sharing earlier this year.
To make matters worse, the X CEO posted shoddy, blurry gameplay footage of Diablo 4 with an off-screen camera on the same day as this announcement. It shows him defeating Lillith in the worst way possible. Perhaps using the Share function would be a better way to share this epic moment.
