PlayStation’s new Community Game Help tool will let you share clips to guide others

It’s like a reverse version of Pictionary.

We all like games, guides, and hints, yeah? Please say “yes,” my editor can hear you. What’s that? Sony is rolling out an update to PlayStation 5’s Game Help, calling it Community Game Help, and it’s going to make finding help with games that much easier? Alright, I’ll start packing up my desk.

For those not familiar with the PlayStation 5 Game Help feature, players can use it by pressing the PS button on their controller to open the “Hints inside” card inside the Control Center. Alternatively, you can tap on the Game Help section within the game card on the PlayStation app for mobile devices to get access to the same help resources straight from the developer.

How Community Game Help differs is that it consists of video clips and screenshots from other players that are automatically captured if the player opts in. Should a player decide to opt out at a later time, all of their videos will be removed from Community Game Help. Additionally, should players be concerned about bandwidth caps, a monthly capture limit can be set.

Once a clip has been captured and uploaded, it is removed from the PS5 on which it was captured, helping to save space. Players will then receive a notification once the clip has been approved by a moderator and published. This all sounds awfully familiar to the various pings, alerts, and emails I get throughout the day. Regardless, published videos can be viewed at any time from the Settings menu and removed by the player who captured them.

How to opt into Community Game Help

  • Open Settings
  • Select Captures & Broadcasts
  • Select Captures
  • Select Auto Captures
  • Select Community Game Help
  • Select Participate to enable it

At the time of this writing, there isn’t a release date for Community Game Help aside from “…select games later this year…” The only confirmed title is Granblue Fantasy: Relink as it was featured in the initial blog post. Either way, it will be a nice feature to help players in a pinch. We’ve come so far from going to the closest bookstore and purchasing a guide.
