Clamperl in Pokemon Go

While many Pokémon evolutions are a walk in the park, a handful pose a real challenge. One such Pokémon is Clamperl in Pokémon Go, which can be a real puzzle to solve due to its two distinct forms. We’re here to help you navigate this creature’s fairly complex evolution process.

What are Clamperl’s evolutions in Pokémon Go?

Clamperl can evolve into either Huntail or Gorebyss with 50 candies. Unfortunately, there’s no surefire way to control which variant you’ll get, unlike Eevee’s nickname evolution trick. Clamperl’s evolutions in Pokémon Go are completely randomized, with a 50/50 chance of landing either Pokémon.

If you’re up for the challenge of obtaining both Clamperl variants, you’ll need a substantial amount of candy. This can be achieved by capturing Clamperls, having it as a Buddy, or using Rare Candies. You can see if you’re lucky enough to get the next evolution the second time around. However, those with the same type can attempt to trade with another player. Trading may be your best option since many trainers have attempted to evolve Clamperl continuously, only to get the same evolution each time.

Both Huntail and Gorebyss share the same Water-type class, but they do excel in different categories. Specifically, Gorebyss is a powerhouse with Psychic special moves, while Huntail thrives with Dark physical strikes.

You may also uncover Shiny variants for Clamperl’s forms, resulting in a color change. For instance, Huntail’s original blue appearance transforms into green. It’ll likely be even more challenging to try your luck at a Shiny variant, which is one of the rarest forms in Pokémon Go.
