When EA Sports president Peter Moore first told the world of EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis more than a year ago, he noted that the Wii version would support Wii MotionPlus, and that it would launch before the PS3 and 360 iterations. Grand Slam Tennis came out on the Wii in June, but we’ve seen neither hide nor hair of the HD game. It was originally set to launch this fall, but it was recently delayed because development resources were shifted to ensure that the EA Sports Active expansion pack, EA Sports Active: More Workouts, is out by this holiday season.
It now appears that PS3 and 360 owners will have to wait quite a while — perhaps even another year — to play a new tennis game. Moore told VG247 at Gamescom that Grand Slam Tennis won’t be released on PS3 and 360 until after the consoles’ respective motion controllers are out. Sony will be launching the PS3’s motion-sensing wand next spring, while Microsoft’s Project Natal isn’t expected to be out until the fall of 2010.
I guess Top Spin 3 is all you’ve got for now, PS3 and 360 owners.
