PS3 full of ‘relentless AAA quality,’ claims Sony (obviously)

Sony kept its mouth shut about games last year, but now that it has some, the platform holder can’t stop showing off. Sony is even going so far as to claim it has an “Embarrassment of riches” this year, and is going to “Arrest the competition” in terms of quality gaming.

“After Killzone 2 we’ve got MLB 09: The Show and then inFamous,” claims Product Marketing VP Scott Steinberg. “It’s almost an embarrassment of riches and it really bombards the competition with games that show the power and advantages of the PS3.

“We’re shipping a great line-up and it’s relentless and AAA quality. Starting it with Killzone 2, we’re going to arrest the momentum from competitors with titles like MLB 09: The Show, which some are calling the best sports title ever made. Then in summer there’s inFamous and you’ll get to see even more excellent titles at E3. If PlayStation fans thought that we’d rest on our laurels from last year and if competitors thought that we’d punched ourselves out, both are mistaken!”

The next twelve months will see the aforementioned games, along with God of War III, Heavy Rain, MAG and Uncharted 2. Plenty of great looking games are on the cards, while Microsoft has been keeping things quite low profile lately. It’ll be an interesting E3, that’s for sure, and quite possibly the first in a long time where Sony has more to show for itself than promises and deflections. That’ll be nice.
