Surprisingly
As soon as I booted up Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (published by Electronic Arts) for the first time, I saw that there was a currency system. But before I could groan, I found that there was no way to purchase said currency by way of microtransactions. That’s right — Garden Warfare won’t launch with them. Phew!
Speaking to GameSpot, PopCap producer Brian Lindley confirmed this outright saying, “we’re not going to have any microtransactions at all at launch.” Now, we’re not out of the woods yet, because Lindley also comments that PopCap will “look at in-game metrics and player feedback” in the future, and in-game payments could be offered at some point down the road.
Stay tuned for our full review next week that explains exactly how the currency works, among other things!
Plants vs. Zombies shooter has no microtransactions at launch, probably doesn’t run in 1080p [GameSpot]
