Red Alert 3 will be coming to the PlayStation 3 … eventually

This summer EA announced development on the PlayStation 3 version of Command & Conquer 3: Red Alert had been suspended. Knowing full well that PS3 gamers want hot chicks and RTS action like every other person, EA has resumed work on the project. The game’s producer, David Silverman, told VideoGamer the reason why the title was shelved for a period of time and confirmed that the game is “definitely” being worked on.

From the interview:

When we announced Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 we announced there was a PS3 version, then we decided to go on the record and say that we’ve suspended it to make sure that RA3 was able to come out to the level of quality that it must adhere to to be called a C&C game. We’ve hit that mark, we’ve shipped the game. And you know what that means? That means there’s another version left to be had. So there’s definitely people working on a PS3 version and we’ll be talking more about that later.

Silverman wouldn’t comment on a release date, but he did say that the PS3 version would take advantage of “both the 1080p nature and the ‘high-defness’ of Blu-Ray…” If EA Los Angeles were to make this move, RA 3 would become the first game on the PS3 to utilize high-definition and the Blu-Ray medium.
