It’s high noon all over again
Only yesterday, reports were coming in that Rockstar’s Red Dead Online was set to leave beta “within the current quarter”. It seems, however, that the devs decided to fan the hammer early, as the online multiplayer portion Red Dead Redemption 2 is now officially up and running.
To celebrate the end of the beta period and beginning of a brave new world, Red Dead Online has also received a hefty update, adding new story missions and multiplayer modes, along with side-quests and activities. To get you started on your own dusty trail, players who log in this week will receive five gold bars, as well as a 25% boost on Free Roam events, Showdowns and Races, as well as 25% extra gold for treasure seekers.
New missions have been added for both Gunslingers and Outlaws, and the story of Jessica LeClark continues as the vengeful lass seeks out her husbands’ killers. On the lighter side, players can now settle in for games of Poker, as well as new territory-holding event Overrun Showdown. There are even new dynamic events inserted into the world, so you might come across folk in need of your assistance, just be sure to keep that side-iron good and ready.
On top of all of the new content, the update also contains some balancing and bug-fixes, along with customisable options to best suit your playing style. This is the first in a long line of updates promised for Red Dead Online, with future plans to bring more events, missions, clothing and weaponry. Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PS4 and Xbox One.
