It’s fun to hate on Jimmy Fallon, but I will say that he’s been hitting his stride more and more these days, and the more he shows off games of all sorts on his show the bigger pass I’m willing to give him. Case in point: Reggie came on and gave us a good look at the new Donkey Kong Country Returns being developed by Retro Studios in action. Watch the Nintendo of America head honcho rock his way through the game as Jimmy can’t figure out how to jump.
And there goes all the good will I had.
Aside from Fallon not realizing that this was a return to the SNES style of game, we do get to see the co-op gameplay in action and it looks solid. I’m a bit concerned about the motion controls taking over too much, but I have a crazy amount of faith in Retro Studios’ ability to make good games.
The video also offers a good look at what millions of people’s faces will look like the first time they see what the 3DS does as Jimmy gets a peek at the new Kid Icarus.
