The latest issue of Game Informer hit shelves today, and nestled between its glossy pages are the newest details on Resistance 2. Anyone with a lick of sense and a PS3 (and some without) has been greatly anticipating this game and the new details will only add to that anticipation.
The sequel to arguably the best launch release for the PS3 will be introducing character classes featuring a tank, medic, and specialist for multi-player. In addition to character classes, two story modes will be available, one for single player and one for local split screen or 8 player coop. Multi-player sessions will now support up to 60 players, with players splitting into 4 to 8 man squads with a host of objectives for each squad. Supposedly the objectives are to keep things from devolving into giant, bloody, free-for-alls which is ok I guess, though most of the people I know are into giant, bloody, free-for-alls.
In addition to expanded multi-player and new character classes Resistance 2 will feature randomized geometry within levels and is boasting graphics and performance that will take advantage of the PS3 power “like never before”. Kotaku quoted Game Informer as saying “Resistance 2 will be too epic to dismiss as anything but one of the biggest, boldest, and most high-reaching titles of 2008. It’s a game that won’t be ignored”. I was already sold on the game when reports of it’s development started to surface, hearing something like this is just the icing on the cake.
