Resistance 2 will have split-screen competitive and cooperative play

Aside from wicked huge monsters and a kicking pace, Resistance 2 will feature split-screen play of both varieties – cooperative and competitive. In the latest post on PlayStation Blog, Insomniac community relations manager James Stevenson revealed that the game’s 8-player co-op mode will support split-screen players, as well as its massive competitive multiplayer component.

In addition to the above reveal, Stevenson noted that the bonus DVD included with the collector’s edition of the game has been switched to a Blu-Ray disc. That means high-definition video for the silly “making-of” documentaries.

It’s been a long time since I’ve considered playing online with a friend next to me on the couch. Part of it has to deal with the friend always being useless, but the other part is that not too many games offer this anymore. What do you guys think? Will you be sinking your teeth into split-screen?

[Thanks Mr. Pibb!]
