In light of a recent bug in Apex Legends that temporarily caused player progress to disappear and caused a few periods of downtime, Respawn Entertainment is issuing all players with free Apex Packs.
As a way of compensating players for a series of recent impactful bugs, glitches, and server outages in Apex Legends, developer Respawn Entertainment has issued free Apex Packs to everyone who logs in to the game over the next couple of weeks. However, it has yet to resolve the issue of missing progression earned between a major progression wipe bug and its fix.
Players can claim free Apex Packs if they play the game within the next 2 weeks
Respawn Entertainment announced yesterday that all players who log in to Apex Legends between now and 10 a.m. PT on April 24, 2024, will receive 8 free Apex Packs. To claim them, you simply need to launch the game and sign into your account. You don’t even need to start a match.
The developer is doing this to apologize to players for the recent bout of fairly massive bugs and glitches and for the server maintenance time used to implement fixes. The issues began last week when an update to Apex Legends caused most players to lose progression, cosmetics, and even Herlooms.
The development team got to work identifying the issue and implementing a fix as soon as possible. However, this led to in-game restrictions, the postponement of new ranked splits, and, as should be expected, server outages.
Unexpected server downtime isn’t fun for anyone who has a limited time to play the games they love. That’s why Respawn Entertainment is making this peace offering with Apex Packs. From what I’ve seen, it’s gone some way towards alleviating the tension between the developer and the player base.
There are still some issues that need to be fixed, though. Players on the game’s subreddit aren’t happy about this lost progress from that brief time period, and more want to know if previously earned rewards from old seasons, such as Seasons 4 and 5, or seasonal challenge progress are ever going to be restored.
It’s hard to know if the developer is capable of restoring the still missing profile rewards at this point. We’re currently in season 20 of Apex Legends, so if those rewards are gone and restoring them requires digging into the game’s archives, it could take a long time. I’m sure Respawn Entertainment will keep us informed as it works on future restoration initiatives and fixes.
