Return 7 is the last of the switchable chapters for Saga, and it has you devising a plot to rescue Alan from the Dark Place through the power of art.
It’s another music-based chapter so get ready for an intense experience. It also has the potential to be one of the hardest chapters if you aren’t prepared. This guide will show you how to complete Return 7 in Alan Wake 2.
Come up with a plan
Speak to Alex and Estevez, and you’ll discuss the current situation and the unexpected appearance of Scratch. Using the clues in your Mind Place, as well as Profiling Odin, you’ll learn that you need the Clicker to amplify a form of art.
Saga decides she’ll ask the Old Gods of Asgard to rock at roll near Cauldron Lake, which should hopefully provide art passionate enough to summon Alan. Before heading over to Cauldron Lake, this is the time for you to do any collectibles clean-ups that you may still want to complete. This guide hub will give you all the information you need on this front.
Travel to Cauldron Lake
Hop in your car and travel to Cauldron Lake. When you arrive, you’ll notice that some pathways have been closed off by fallen trees, so it becomes a bit of a maze to get there. If you’re feeling lost, you can have a glance at the map below.
As you travel, you’ll call Odin whose excitement gives you confidence that his band has the right folks for the task. Once you arrive at the lake, you’ll find the band as well as Estevez and Casey already there. Speak to the band, and they’ll begin their song titled Dark Summoning.
Enjoy the rock and roll, but don’t get too distracted because you’ll be bombarded by a wave of Taken. This is perhaps the hardest part of the game, as you have to balance acquiring ammo with escaping from the numerous foes on your tail.
My advice is to come prepared with weapons full of ammo already. Although there are containers with ammo at the lake, it makes things easier when you aren’t looking for ammo while being attacked. Secondly, bring plenty of flairs to keep hordes back, as they can get overwhelming at times.
Keep your cool, don’t stop shooting, and eventually the Taken will be done for. Although Saga has performed all the necessary aspects of the ritual, the chapter ends without the writer’s appearance.
Differences in Return 7 in Final Draft
There is one additional manuscript. It’s almost impossible to miss it as it’s on the path to the lake. The manuscript is titled “It’s Not a Lake.” It seems to imply some connection between the lake and Ahti’s janitor bucket full of water.
