Re-re-cycling
Last week saw Sony Interactive Entertainment release dazzling space shooter Returnal on the PC platform, and while the PS5 Housemarque gem has been suitably well-received by critics and players, that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t come without a few minor bugs that need blasting into the stratosphere.
A new patch, available to download right now, takes an initial pass at some of these issues. The priority here is removing a bug that caused grasses to pop-in when Returnal is played on its “Epic” particle settings. This issue should now be resolved. Additionally, the new patch fixes a bug that was causing music to pause on rare occasions, along with auto-sync problems with certain resolutions.
“We are honoured to have so many new players experiencing our dark, deep and beautiful action thriller, Returnal!” reads a message accompanying the patch notes. “Bringing Returnal to PC and capturing that PlayStation 5 experience took a lot of work and focus from the team at Climax Studios, with support from Housemarque and XDEV. We have been blown away and are so thankful for the amazing reviews, feedback and reports you have shared with us so far.”
“We have continued to work on Returnal since launch, monitoring your feedback and will continue to work on patch updates to support the game ahead.”
Returnal, originally launched on PS5 in the spring of 2021, is a visually compelling shooter that tells the tale of a space explorer trapped in a time loop. The adrenaline-pumping adventure is renowned for its dazzling visual design, strong use of light and color, compelling challenge, and frantic, trigger-pumping action. The PC port is the latest in a series of PlayStation titles added to the desktop platform, such as God of War, Uncharted 4, Death Stranding, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Horizon Zero Dawn.
