Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI releasing for PS2 in North America

The last few months have been very generous to the PlayStation 2. Despite the 360, Wii, PS3, PSP and the DS all being major contenders in the gaming industry currently, it seemed certain developers weren’t quite ready to abandon the PS2 just yet. And why should they? Old is gold, like they say. We’ve seen the release of several amazing games for the PS2 of late, including, but not limited to Guitar Hero II, Final Fantasy XII, Okami and Bully.

Well, it looks like we will soon be able to add another PS2 title to the list of recently released games for the system. According to VGCave, Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI will be hitting North American retailers on February 6, 2007, exclusively for the PS2.

Here’s their description of the game:

Rediscover an ancient civilization with an explosive history in this most stunning edition of  to date. Based on the 120 chapter novel that recounts the near collapse of China at the end of the Han Dynasty and the fateful events that followed during the 2nd and 3rd centuries A.D.

Players will need to dig deep within to prove themselves adept at both the military and political arts in order to bring China under one rule. Domestic affairs, diplomacy and warfare are all conducted on a single vast 3D relief map, dramatically bringing to life the epic scale of the adventure that lies before them.

I don’t know anything about the “most stunning” part, or the “epic scale of the adventure”, but I have to admit, the premise sounds interesting. Hit the link above for an overview of the game that would make the developers blush. The game is rated E10+ by the ESRB and no mention has been made of whether or not it will see a European release.
