It looks like ZeniMax, parent company of Bethesda, has snapped up the URL elderscrollsonline.com. Could this be more evidence towards the rumored upcoming MMO?
MCV reminds us that last month ZeniMax confirmed that a large part of a recent $300 million investment will be spent on the development of an MMO title. Our minds hopefully jumped to the Elder Scrolls games, but there wasn’t much to go on.
Granted, a new URL isn’t either, and this GameSpot post points to what may just be cybersquatter protection.
“We are tired of people squatting on domains related to our games or simply not being able to get them if we needed them and decided a while back we’d get these to keep it from happening again,” Bethesda’s PR chief Pete Hines told GameSpot. “People are grabbing domains like these and trying to extract money from us for them, or using them for some other purpose.”
Ah, whatever. We want it, and they know we do. I think it’s coming. For now, we’ll just blindly check the URL every once in awhile to see what’s up.
