Rumortoid: KOTOR MMO, RPG, or nonsense: You decide

They may not nail it 100% of the time, but anonymous (and not so anonymous) tipsters are the lifeblood of our industry; at least to us bloggers. Unless you are on the inside track concerning all current and future projects in existence — and really, who can be? — we depend on them for information that resides just currently beyond our grasp. You know, like the rumor of a Star Wars MMO based on that wonderful story of a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far way — called KOTOR. 1UP was lucky enough to be on the receiving end of the tip this time, and it included a script that reeked of familiarity. Just check out the description, and see for yourself:

“This is a role-playing game set in the historical past of the Star Wars universe. Jedi and Sith battle across the galaxy with the power of the Force and are joined by soldiers, politicians and nobles. Players must choose the destinies of heroes and villains in a thrilling and dangerous universe.”

Call me Dark Helmet and smack me with a used hyperdrive, but that sounds like it fits the KOTOR timeline to a tee. The only thing about it that seems off is that the script is supposedly heavy on the dialog side, which is unusual for an MMORPG — or so I’m told (I like to own my games). However, it sounds like one of the prerequisites for an RPG, don’t you think? I’m crossing my fingers and toes on this one, but I’m not alone in hoping that this rumor has some legs — and it’s in reference to the next KOTOR game that’s long overdue for a next gen makeover. And when I say game, I mean RPG. I’m just not ready to see my beloved series turn into something with a monthly fee. How about you?

[Thanks Justin!]
