Says Sega Europe’s marketing director
Anyone who knows my gaming habits is aware that I adore the Shenmue series. The second game in particular came at a perfect point in my life, and it got me through some hard times But over the years it’s become increasingly tougher to play it, and it looks like I might have a solution at some point.
Sega’s European marketing director Jon Rooke, speaking to Marketing Week, notes that Sega is “exploring ways to re-release the original two Shenmue titles.” He also states that “we want to innovate and back smartphones and virtual reality, but our key purpose is to go back to what the brand use to stand for, and I think the buzz around Shenmue 3 shows that people love our legacy.”
This is in line with what a Sega head said recently, so hopefully they’re on the right track to regain a lot of fan trust.
