Shadow of the Colossus stomps into the top of the UK Charts

In a surprising move that almost made me spit out my morning coffee, the remake of Sony’s cult classic Shadow of the Colossus has debuted at number one in the UK charts, knocking off Capcom’s open-world juggernaut Monster Hunter: World.

The two mighty behemoths battled over the week, likely crushing buildings and vehicles underfoot, but when the dust cleared, the remake of the 2005 PS2 classic stood triumphant. Monster Hunter: World now sits at third place, behind EA Sports MMA-sim, UFC 3. Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Origins climbed several places this week, re-entering the Top Ten at number nine.

Elsewhere in the charts, Dragon Ball FighterZ has seemingly peaked, dropping from number six to number nineteen. Arena-shooter Overwatch has rocketed back up the charts, making a re-entry at number thirteen, while high placings for The Evil Within 2, Fallout 4 and Wolfenstein II herald the coming of yet another Bethesda promotional sale.

And sitting outside the Top Ten, at number eleven, it’s yer boy Crash Bandicoot, refusing to go gently into the night. It will be interesting to see what next week brings. Is it all over for the mighty Monster Hunter: World? Or can the beast pick itself up for one more round?
