As you play Elden Ring, you will meet many NPCs. Moore is someone that you run into quite early in the game and can be found just outside Belurat Tower. He has a little quest attached if you know what to do but it is somewhat obtuse. In this guide, we will run you through the relevant steps, but obviously, there shall be spoilers ahead.
Moore Questline Guide in Elden Ring
You will first find Moore at the Main Gate Cross outside Belurat. Chat with him and exhaust his dialogue, and he will become a vendor for you. Make sure you buy the Sealed Spiritsprings note from him for 1000 Runes; you will find it very useful about 20 hours from now. Make sure you chat fully with him and Ansbach, who is also nearby, to get any and all lore you can from them.
Thiollier than thou
Up next, you need to find a character by the name of Thiollier. He is located to the south of southeast of Castle Ensis, at a Site of Grace called Pillar Path Cross. Chat with him for a while, and he will have plenty to say. More importantly, he will become a vendor of poisons and poison-related items, which is useful. When you have spoken to him, return to Moore at the Main Gate Cross.
Chat to Moore, and you will get an item called Black Syrup that he says Thiollier asked for. Now, continue to search the map until you trip an incident where the Great Runes breaks. This can happen in a number of ways, such as visiting particular locations. You will know it has happened as a message will appear on the screen, accompanied by a loud cracking noise. It could take hours of play, so don’t fret about it too much.
Return to Moore yet again, and Miquella’s spell will have been lifted from him, but he will not really know what to do with himself. As he is no longer bound to Miquella via the charm that he has been using to control his followers, he’ll need to decide his faith for himself. You will have two dialogue options: you can tell him to “put it behind you” or “remain sad forever.”
Should you tell Moore to “put it behind you” or “remain sad forever”
Put it behind you
Tell more to put it behind him, and he won’t mess about, straight up leaving the area and trying to get on with things. You’ll see him later as either friend or foe, depending on other people’s storylines. It is highly likely that he ends up on the opposite of you in a pivotal fight later, which we don’t want.
Remain sad forever
If you tell him to remain sad forever, then our big sad boi is gonna go and get himself killed. You’ll find his body later in the game in Scadu Altus, near the Church of the Crusade. You can get his armor and greatshield from his corpse because waste not, want not.
I don’t know
This is something of a nothing answer, as it just kicks you back into the same menu to give him something definitive.
So, what should you do? Tell him to remain sad forever. It is better for Moore to die on Scadu Altus than to have to deal with him yourself, cruelly. It might sound mean, but in Elden Ring, you need to min-max that emotional damage build.
