Yacht Club Games has taken to Twitter to show off a small teaser image for the upcoming Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment. It looks like the second expansion will be coming out in spring 2017. No specific date was given nor was the mention of the rest of the DLC.
An update on the studio’s official blog from June of this year mentioned that while the King Knight expansion would not be launching at the same time, one of the extra multiplayer modes would. I suppose we’ll have to wait to see if we’re getting Battle Mode or Body Swap next.

I’m really happy to hear this information. I was beginning to wonder what was happening with the expansion as we hadn’t really heard much from Yacht Club Games. I remember when I originally beat Shovel Knight, I hoped that Specter Knight would get his own campaign. He is such a badass.
I also liked Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows more than the base game, so I have high expectations for Specter of Torment. Hopefully the spring release window doesn’t make this end up launching in June.
