Good news: Silent Hill HD Collection has been patched following reports of frankly grotesque problems with the unfinished code.
Bad news: This patch will only be available to PlayStation 3 customers. If you bought the Xbox 360 version, sorry — you have officially bought a broken game that Konami won’t be fixing.
“Plans for an Xbox 360 title update have been cancelled due to technical issues and resources,” announced the publisher. “Understanding the issues some users are experiencing, Konami issued a title update for Silent Hill HD Collection (PS3), which fixed frame rate issues as well as audio-synching and other reported issues. Konami apologizes to any players who are continuing to experience these issues on the Xbox 360 sku. Silent Hill HD Collection is available at retail stores nationwide.”
Konami may be trying to use the same excuse Polytron used with FEZ, but it didn’t say exactly what the “resource” problem was. Whatever the justification, the fact of the matter is that a game based on unfinished code will be sold to consumers and they’ll just have to deal with the fact that it’s been sold, knowingly, as an inferior product.
That’s our Konami!
