Hey, guys … guess what? Electronic Arts and Maxis are developing The Sims 3! Who would have thought that we’d see another installment to what has become one of the best selling computer games of all time? It boggles the mind.
EA and Maxis have officially launched TheSims3.com, and while the page contains no information on the game, it does do a pretty good job of teasing. They’ve plastered a giant image on the page, with the now iconic green diamond with a “3” next to it. Not content with the nebulous and non-commital “coming soon,” it defines “soon” as March 19.
The Sims 3, as far as I have known (from intoxicated people who don’t know when to shut up), has been in development since well before the release of The Sims 2. How it will differ from The Sims 2 (which, as far as I’m concerned, was a perfect evolution of the original) escapes me, but one can only hope that The Sims team and the Spore team were communicating openly during development.
Can you can imagine if The Sims 3 adopted the Spore “massively single-player metaverse” model? You can boot up your game to find my sim peeing in your toilet! The future is now!
