The horror visual novel Slay the Princess was met with plenty of accolades when it launched in October 2023, and now there’s even more to love about its dark and twisting narrative. Developer Black Tabby Games released a free update today, introducing all-new dialogue and music while fleshing out endgame content.
It’s a pretty substantial update, too. According to the devs, there are over 3,000 words of additional dialogue, including structure changes to conversations and dialogue choices. There are also new animations to inject even more life into to the looping, death-defying adventure. They didn’t forget about the soundtrack, either. Some of the climactic tracks now have orchestral versions that the Czech National Symphony Orchestra recorded for the game.
Just an ordinary cabin in the woods
Black Tabby Games’ lead writer Tony Howard-Arias thanked players for the life-changing support the game has received since its launch. While giving a shoutout to fans who made art, streamed Slay the Princess, told friends, or even just tried it out, he added that all the support means “we can keep working on it to try and fulfill our vision for the game.”
To mark the occasion of 200,000 copies sold, Slay the Princess will be available at a 20 percent discount on Steam as part of the Midweek Madness sale. That sale will last through Monday, April 8. There’s also a new, very appropriately curated “Cabins in the Woods” bundle, which includes Slay the Princess, Inscryption, and What Remains of Edith Finch at 10 percent off. If you haven’t had a chance to check out this gem yet, it sounds like now is the best time to do so.
