Shin Me-Money Tensei
Shin Megami Tensei V may have taken a while to hit Nintendo Switch, but the wait proved to be well worth it for fans of the long-running Atlus franchise. Our own Chris Carter rated the game a 9/10, and our sister site Siliconera named it the best game of 2021. Even if you have no interest in playing through an aggressively tough RPG, there are still plenty of ways you can enjoy what Altus created if you just search Twitter for all the different conversations you can have in the game. They’re special!
I’m still working my way through the campaign, but I’m having a blast with it. And apparently, so are hundreds of thousands of other Switch owners. For the New Year holiday, Atlus released a statement to Famitsu in which it confirmed Shin Megami Tensei V has sold more than 800,000 copies since its release this past November. This is yet another piece of evidence of the “Switch bump” for franchises as its predecessor, Shin Megami Tensei IV, sold roughly 600,000 copies on the Nintendo 3DS.
In addition to confirming the sales, Atlus once again teased its secret project that I am shocked hasn’t been leaked on Reddit yet. As we reported a few days ago, the developer is aiming for this secret project to be a pillar of its catalog. The game is expected to launch this year, and hopefully, just like with Shin Megami Tensei V, it gets a worldwide release at launch.
