Sony Android tablets might hit this summer

Japanese newspaper Nikkei has cited Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer saying Sony plans to release a tablet by the of this summer, Bloomberg reports. This Sony tablet will run on Android 3.0 Honeycomb and will supposedly hit ths U.S. first.

Engadget revealed the existence of this tablet, codenamed S1, in February and later confirmed it’s a PlayStation Certified device. If Engadget’s sources are correct, the device would sport a 9.4″ capacitive touch screen with a 1280×800 resolution, front- and rear-facing cameras, a USB port, an IR port.

If you don’t care about iPads and were waiting for a proper Honeycomb tablet, I guess you might as well wait until something gets officially announced. According to Engadget, the device would be priced at around $599.
