The current state of videogames on cable TV is poor at best. Rarely does the medium get coverage outside of mainstream news reporting on the latest killing spree and then getting an “expert” to play the blame game. There’s always G4, but even a channel devoted to gaming is susceptible to moving towards completely unrelated shows.
When December finally comes around, Spike TV’s Video Game Awards takes the center stage. It’s become obvious that many of you self-proclaimed “hardcore gamers” despise the show for one reason or another, while the more easy-going gamers out there that avoid reading about videogames online or in print can find enjoyment in the show.
If you happen to fall into the former category rather than the latter and you wouldn’t mind watching the Foo Fighters in action, you’ll want to halt your channel surfing for a few minutes and look out for their performance at the 2007 VGAs.
This choice in music was backed by the fact that the Foo Fighter’s “Learn to Fly” is featured in Rock Band. Celebrities attending the event are asked to show off their “videogame prowess” while rockin’ out in Rock Band. Trust me on this one: hilarity will most definitely ensue.
