The Red Cyclone, Zangief, is easily one of Street Fighter 6‘s most devastating characters, afforded huge size and a plethora of new tools, not to mention the return of his devastating array of pro-wrestling moves. But for new players, eager to pick up the Russian ‘Rassler, some of his controls, particularly his “360” motions, can seem quite difficult to input. There are shortcuts to help you with this.
The Spinning Piledriver motion, commonly known in all fighting games as the “SPD” or “360” motion, implies a full 360-degree spin of the controls, followed by a button. In the case of the Spinning/Screw Piledriver, a Punch button. So, how do you go 360 without jumping? Seems to make no sense, right?

How to do Spinning Piledriver shortcut motion
In reality, you do not need to do a full 360 motion. The same effect can be garnered by going from Back, through Down, through Forward through Up-Forward + Punch simultaneously. You should never have to reach the Up portion of the motion. As long as hit reach Up-Forward/Up and hit the button together, the move should activate, allowing our boy Gief to keep his feet planted on terra firma. Oh, it’s not easy-peasy, but it’s much easier than doing a full 360, and with a little patience, it’ll become second nature.
Alternately, you can churn a full 360 while jumping, ensuring that it’s timed so that you hit Punch as soon as you land in front of your opponent, which will activate the move. Another way to land SPD is to swiftly tap all four compass points, ending on Up + P simultaneously. These shortcuts work for all 360 motions in Street Fighter 6, and many other fighting games. So just aim to roll Back to Forward-Up + Button, and you’ll be fine. Remember to put a little practice in to train the ol’ noodle. You’ll get it.
