Spirited videos like this prove that Heroes of the Storm isn’t dead yet

Dark Nexus II is live

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been playing Heroes of the Storm consistently, every month, since it was available in alpha form in 2014. I’d have to really think about it, but it might be my most-played non-MMO title of all time. At the very least, it’s up there.

Despite the fact that the game was put into “maintenance mode,” it still has a pretty scrappy crew of developers at the helm, as evidenced by the slick trailer for the new Dark Nexus II event. Billed as a continuance of the original Dark Nexus celebration in 2018 and a spring event (with all of the returning skins that come with that), Dark Nexus II is now live.

While it doesn’t have a game board to traverse or anything fancy like the last Toy event, Dark Nexus II brings with it new skins, mounts, a reworked title screen and a massive Tassadar rework alongside of huge changes for towers/forts/keeps and cores.

The below video does a good job of giving you the gist of the event, showcasing the marquee new skins for Deathwing, Fenix and Tassadar with the new neon red/dark aesthetic. Although he’ll probably be tweaked very soon, the new Tassadar is a blast to play and the core changes are fun so far. The event has given Heroes a welcome shot in the arm; in case you’re a lapsed player and have been meaning to check it out.
