Square Enix is getting into the browser game game with their first title for Google’s Chrome browser, Mini Ninjas. They’re working with Google to bring what they call “console quality” gaming to the browser, using its Native Client features. This relatively new tech lets game makers use C++ code to create browser games that work just as native software would, with no downloading or installing required.
Gamers know that Mini Ninjas showed up first on consoles. It should be interesting to see how well this game carries over to a browser window.
If you’re down with checking out what one of the first examples of high definition, console quality would be like [have you seen Bastion?!], you’ll want to sign up for the open beta that’s set for later this month.
Square Enix says that they plan to bring more of their games to browsers in the future.
