A good chance for avid photographers

Square Enix has announced it will be giving away a scholarship to one lucky photographer, as part of its Life is Strange-inspired Everyday Heroes competition.

This is totally separate from the identically named anti-bullying hashtag drive it launched a couple weeks ago.

The idea is simple: submit a photo showing “ordinary people doing extraordinary things,” and you’ll be in with a chance of winning a framed copy of your photo signed by the folks at developer Dontnod. While three people can win these, only one person will win the $10,000 scholarship known as the Everyday Heroes Scholarship Fund to allow them to continue their photography career.

You can enter the competition, and look through some of the entries, on the Life is Strange website. There’s a really cool range of both personal and artistic photos, and the stories that go with them are lovely to read.

It’s nice to see Square Enix using Life is Strange to do some good in the world, seeing as the game does tackle some incredibly difficult real-world subjects. As I said when the hashtag campaign was announced, I hope this means Square Enix is interested in continuing the series in some way!
