Stacking paper: Papers, Please sold over 500,000 copies

Paper? I hardly even know her!

Lucas Pope left Naughty Dog and the pulp Uncharted series to make a paperwork simulator, last year’s oddball hit Papers, Please.

I could see a Frog Fractions sort of demented, Hunter S. Thompson fevered dream paperwork simulator that gets real weird real quick. Paper work scares the hell out of me. But Pope played it straight and let the realistic, soul-crushing bureaucracy dutifully ruin your life.

And it turned out well for Pope. Papers, Please, which took nine months to make, has sold over 500,000 copies. Imagine some of those sold at the $10 starting price and it’s not a bad haul for one man.
