So it turns out Starfield is pretty popular, yeah? Although it’s received some pretty good scores, it’s by no means perfect. However, whatever criticism people have, it hasn’t stopped Bethesda’s new release from being nominated for several awards.
Over on GamesRadar, voting for the Golden Joystick Award 2023 has begun. Here, you’ll get a chance to decide which games of this year (and before) were your favorite. Categories include Best Storytelling, Studio of the Year, Best Indie Game, Still Playing Award, and more.
Of course, being one of the most hyped games of this generation, Starfield has a number of recognitions. For this year’s GJA, the sci-fi RPG has been nominated for Best Audio, Best Visual Design, and Xbox Game of the Year.
Note: not ‘Game of the Year’ overall
Nobody will be surprised that Starfield is being recognized in the industry. However, it’s interesting to note that it isn’t under the PC Game of the Year category. This could be because it’s an Xbox exclusive, but it did release on PC as well.
As for it being the best Xbox game, it’s going up against the likes of the Bethesda-published Hi-Fi Rush, the remake of Dead Space, and Obsidian’s text-heavy medieval release Pentiment (which I voted for because I’m pretentious like that).
Starfield itself has been received pretty favorably, with it currently showing a pretty solid Metacritic score of 86 and 84 on PC and Xbox, respectively. However, as time marches on, people are beginning to see the cracks, so maybe it won’t have the legacy Skyrim retains to this day.
